![]() The Topsy Foundation has marked its 7th successful year of service to rural communities in and around the crossroads of the Mpumalanga, Free State and Gauteng provinces. Activities take place from a central project site at Grootvlei, in Mpumalanga, called the Topsy Sanctuary. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the staff and children at the Topsy Sanctuary celebrated in style on 2 November at the Topsy Sanctuary. Crazy Chameleon sponsored an unforgettable party for the local children. Topsy was conceptualised and founded in 2000 by Duke Kaufman, Silja Elena and Doug Maritz. Duke Kaufman recalls: “We were intent on focusing on the rural communities. They are forgotten, especially if they do not have a tourism or industry draw card.” “Topsy provides medical and social access to over 6 000 people on a monthly basis. At Topsy we realise that our operations are a large undertaking, but we believe without a doubt, that a huge pandemic needs an equivalent response” adds Kaufman. The Foundation, a fully-registered and internationally-respected South African Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), provides relief services to some of South Africa’s most under-resourced rural communities through a multi-faceted approach to the consequences of HIV and AIDS and extreme poverty. “The Topsy Foundation needs to raise over R8 million every year to continue its work, and any form of assistance would be greatly appreciated. We invite you to join us.” says Silja Elena. For more details visit www.topsy.org.za |

This is the powerful story of the author's struggle with Multiple Sclerosis and how a healer's unusual prescription of mindful altruism - to 'give away 29 gifts in 29 days' - ignited her energy, her happiness, and invited more abundance into her life.
