Author: Judy HallThe Crystal Bible - A Definitive Guide To CrystalsThis book is a comprehensive guide to crystals, their shapes, colours and applications. It covers all the major stones currently available and many lesser known, recently discovered crystals, in all there are over two hundred. It is beautifully illustrated and presented in a directory format and contains all the information you need to start benefiting from the power of crystals.

The bulk of this book is taken up by an A-Z directory of the crystals, it is well laid out and easy to find the particular crystal that you're looking for. Each of the crystals featured in this book have two to three pages dedicated to them and includes; a quick reference box detailing its colour, appearance (whether it's transparent, in a cluster or single points etc.), rarity (which I assume will indicate its relative cost) and source (where it is mined). The rest of the pages are dedicated to explaining the particular crystal's attributes, healing qualities and where it should be positioned. All of the information provided is detailed and easy to read and I soon found myself being drawn into reading more about the different crystals.

I particularly enjoyed the introduction to this book, and being a crystal novice found that it answered most of my questions and gave me the tools and information to start using them. It covers everything from how crystals are formed, the theory behind how they work, what they can be used for, and how to cleanse and look after them.

The last three sections of the book are a quick reference guide, glossary and index. The quick reference guide includes useful information on how crystals relate to each of the following; the zodiac, the chakras, the aura, and the body; it also includes gem remedies and divinatory meanings of crystals.

The index section I thought was particularly excellent. Rather than being an index in the traditional sense it only covers a list of ailments or problems that can be addressed with certain crystals. It is a very comprehensive list and is easy to find what you're looking for; all the pages of suitable crystals are then listed next to the ailment.

All in all I think this is an excellent book and should cover most of your needs when it comes to using and understanding crystals, especially if you are new to it.
