Author: Rhonda Byrne![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There has been a lot of hype about this book (and movie) so naturally I had to find out if there was anything to it. I'm afraid to say that the short answer to this question is no. The book feels like a cheesy infomercial and you're constantly anticipating the wonderful knowledge just about to come your way - sadly this never materialises.I've always been fascinated by visualisation and the power of the mind so I was very eager to read this book, I was hoping that it was going to add to the techniques and knowledge that I had already gained, unfortunately it didn't. The book is a collaboration between the author and industry experts (such as Neale Donald Walsch and Dr. John F. Demartini) and as such it is filled with quotes with very little contribution of substance from the author herself, this was a format that I really struggled with and found frustrating. I also found, due the proliferation of quotes, that it never fully engaged me, perhaps this is a format more suitable to those who prefer easy to digest chunks of information. The constant references to the movie were also very frustrating and made me wonder if perhaps I should have watched the movie to really understand 'The Secret'… There are many books out there that explore visualisation and the laws of attraction, this is definitely not one of the better examples. It is however brilliantly marketed, sadly though for a book so completely lacking in substance this has not done the self-empowerment industry any good. |

This is the powerful story of the author's struggle with Multiple Sclerosis and how a healer's unusual prescription of mindful altruism - to 'give away 29 gifts in 29 days' - ignited her energy, her happiness, and invited more abundance into her life.
