     This DVD recording of a live lecture features internationally acclaimed author and lecturer Wayne Dyer, PhD, who shows you how you can find a “spiritual solution to every problem”. Dyer breaks down the phrase into its three key words: problem, spiritual, and solution.Problem - Dyer refers to a passage in A Course in Miracles, “You do not have any problems, you only think you do”, and then explains that it’s how you process situations that leads to the idea of problems. If you change your mind, you will indeed change your problems. Spiritual - We enjoyed how succinctly Dyer put this, “becoming spiritual means trying to be a little bit better today than you were yesterday”, and he suggests that this can be accomplished through kindness, good cheer, unconditional love, forgiveness, feeling connected to the universe, and knowing that you’re an infinite being. Solution - Since all problems are a form of energy, you can find solutions when you apply a higher or faster energy to a particular challenge. You can do so by applying light to darkness, love to fear, joy to sadness, and so on. Wayne Dyer has a gentle approach to delivering his lecture that is easy to listen to and engage with. He speaks with authority and respect and a distinct lack of ego, it’s very refreshing. We did find the lack of a disc menu surprising, when you load up the DVD it just starts playing straight away, there’s also no way to select particular chapters easily to enable you to just watch specific parts of the lecture again which is slightly frustrating. The DVD does feature a brief bonus feature where Dyer demonstrates the effects of positive and negatives energies of our thoughts, but again you have to wait until the end of the disc to be able to watch it. Criticisms aside this is the kind of DVD you can watch several times and gain fresh insights with each viewing, and considering that Wayne Dyer is unlikely to visit our shores in the near future is probably the closest you’ll get to experiencing the wisdom of one of the world’s foremost speakers on personal development. |
