The sound quality in the podcasts is unfortunately quite poor, with lots of unnecessary assonance, which could have easily been avoided, and occasional fluctuating of sound levels, it’s a real shame. This however doesn’t overly detract from the substance of the podcast and the great content that they contain. We particularly enjoyed the meditation in the first podcast which gives a simple and easy to follow guided meditation, perfect for those who think they can’t meditate or have trouble stilling their mind. The introductory video is also worth watching although at 30MB in size might put off those concerned about their bandwidth limitations. The music accompanying the guided meditations was excellent and certainly enhanced the meditative atmosphere. We had a quick search around the Meditation Society’s website and were delighted to find that there are a number of these tracks available to download for free. http://download.meditation.org.au/meditationmusic.asp In all there are 24 different episodes in this series to download so far and they are on average about 7MB to 10MB in size, lasting between 15 to 30 minutes. We couldn’t work out whether they are published according to a schedule but from what we gather they generally come out every other week. There have been a couple of breaks in that schedule though and there also hasn’t been a new episode since February of this year - let’s hope they start up again soon. So if you’re interested in starting meditation but don’t have the time to attend any classes then you won’t go too far wrong exploring the Learn to Meditate podcast from The Meditation Society of Australia. |
