The CD also contains an extended guided relaxation which promotes a calm restful state through a transformational and healing experience that integrates mind, body and spirit. After the ‘Prelude’ track (which introduces Jevon’s background as a personal success coach, master practitioner and trainer of neuro-linguistic programming and hypnotherapy and a reiki master), and ‘Introduction’ track, there are three tracks that make up the substance of this CD. The first is the Cool, Calm & Collected technique which is a simple but powerful technique that can be use as a stress relief tool to rest and rejuvenate your mind and body. The process starts by simply instructing us to ‘stop, just stop’. Its sounds too simple but is actually a surprisingly effective start to this meditation. This is followed by the release breath which removes the tension from the body with a combination of visualisation and breathing. The third step in the technique is a conscious breathing exercise to promote relaxation, and then this is combined with the fourth step in the technique, expanded awareness. I found this to be a particularly interesting concept, as Jevon explained that when we are stressed we are in a flight or fight mode and experience tunnel vision, which means we are only focussing on what is in front of us. In this fourth step in the technique you are taught how to let your focus and attention expand to become aware of your peripheral vision which has the interesting effect of automatically relaxing the eyes, facial muscles, and eventually the entire body. Its very powerful. The second track on the CD guides you into a deeply relaxed and composed state and introduces the possibilities of transformation. Accompanying Jevon’s voice is a music track that includes ‘state of the art unique combination of encoded audio and binaural beat technology’ which is apparently designed to stimulate brain wave activity that enables mind/body integration and restfulness. Brainwaves are also activated that induce the release of serotonin which again is designed to leave you feeling serene, centred and peaceful. It sounds very technical and complicated but all we can say is that yes we did feel totally relaxed and pretty serene during and after listening to the track. Our only gripe with this CD is that we felt that this particular track was too long. Jevon packs so much into this relaxation that we almost started to feel ourselves feeling exhausted with the effort of trying to relax. We feel that perhaps that it would have been beneficial to split this meditation into two different versions. This is a personal reaction to the length of the track and I’d imagine many people will enjoy the opportunity for extended guided relaxation so please don’t let this put you off from what is really an excellent CD. The final track on the CD contains the music that accompanied the previous track. This is a useful addition to an already excellent collection of relaxation tools. The track seamlessly plays on after the previous guided relaxation and helps to keep the deeply relaxed state going for at least another half an hour. We were extremely impressed by the production quality of the CD. Jevon’s voice is perfect for these types of relaxing meditations and he maintains an excellent pace and calming tone throughout. The background music and overall sound quality was fantastic (which is something that often frustrates us with this type of CD) and it complements the meditations perfectly. In all, it is clear that a lot of time, care and consideration was put into to creating what we feel is a very high-quality product.
