The front of the card contains just a word with an image complementing it, on the reverse side is a short explanation of what to do. We found the messages on the cards to be simple to digest and understand, and they certainly made us want to act upon them. Some of the highlight cards for us were; Action > “The journey to find your lost self begins with one step”, Patience > “Be willing to pass up good for great”, and Silence > “Silence is good self-care”. The artwork on the cards, provided by Jean-Paul Avisse, Shirley Ann and Corey Wolfe, complements the messages. It was possible to tell the difference between the artists’ work as, unsurprisingly, each has his/her own style, and although we did find that some of the images were slightly kitsch and not to our taste, on the whole we did feel that they added to the inspiriting nature of the cards. In the instructions contained in the pack it is suggested that you empty the cards into a basket or glass jar and pick a self-care message every day, or when faced with a decision, shuffle the deck, centre your mind, and choose one card to help guide you in the right direction, both of which we thought we good ideas. We believe that this deck will serve as a useful tool for anyone looking for a source of inspiration or motivation, or someone who just needs a nudge in the right direction reminding them that there is beauty and magic in their life. |
