Cheirology is not fortune telling, or predictive. We do not auger future events, but rather focus upon present circumstances. Cheirologists subject a pair of hands to codeification and interpretation, as a means by which to analyse character, temperament, skills, talents or weaknesses. Hands reveal our emotional orientations, needs and sensitivities and our hands are accurate indicators of vocational aptitudes. As "the servants of the brain", hands reflect their owner. Patterns of thinking and behaviour imprint in the morphology (shape, skin texture, finger lengths and individual shapes, bends etc, tip shapes, thumb shapes etc.) and in the skin markings (lines and dermatoglyphics). It is the identification of these varied manifestations that forms the science of hand reading. Also within the scientific level, advances in medical diagnostic Cheirology indicate that the hands are an accurate tool for the diagnosis of congenital and acquired heart diseases, cancers, diabetes, schizophrenia, depression, alzheimer's, lung and digestive disorders, etc. Advanced technological magnification is required to study the dermatoglyphic alterations which warn of these disorders. However, medical diagnostic procedure does not form part of Cheirology counselling in South Africa. By becoming a Cheirology counsellor, you have the opportunity to help others in a cognitive way with choices, decisions and other more practical aspects of life. Greater self awareness is facilitated, and loving support/counselling during difficult periods is offered. Cheirologists are trained to give counsel within a specified context, defined as the five realms of human experience. These realms describe the physical, emotional, vocational, intellectual and spiritual aspects of our lives and the deeper aspects of each of these levels are systematically addressed during a consultation. The elements in nature (earth, water, fire, air) are the interpretative tool used in modern day Cheirology. Each element has certain principles and qualities, and by allying the known with an unknown we define one in terms of the other, e.g. principles of water are: reflection, cohesion, perseverance, flow etc. Qualities and needs of a person with a "water type" hand are friendship, sensitivity, imagination, compassion, receptivity etc. Each hand has certain shapes, skin textures, mounts, markings, and each of these features is accorded an elemental rulership. e.g. square hand, rough skin, few lines, square fingertips = earth characteristics. Earth is solid, dense, enduring, reliable. Thus the owner of these hands is steady, dull, honest, patient and loyal. Learning to articulately interpret with the use of the "language of the elements", while ethically blending your words, forms the art of hand reading. You do not have to be psychic to learn to read hands, however, the intuitive or psychic component has a life of it's own, and intuitive perceptions do become part of the Cheirologists repertoire. The study of Cheirology is easily learned - step by step, systematic, principled and logical, yet paradoxically the development of intuition evolves rapidly the more the Cheirologist becomes immersed in the scientific study of the hands! In an atmosphere of loving kindness and compassion, reception and transmission of information begins to channel. The skill of lovingly weaving the tapestry of each person's unique design is the craft of hand reading. |

This is the powerful story of the author's struggle with Multiple Sclerosis and how a healer's unusual prescription of mindful altruism - to 'give away 29 gifts in 29 days' - ignited her energy, her happiness, and invited more abundance into her life.
