![]() ![]() So another Valentines day has gone by – how did your heart fare? Did it want to chomp its way through every chocolate heart it saw? In other words, was your heart hungry and did you land up feeding it with food? More importantly in which ways did feeding it in this way help and in which ways did it not? And if it helped, how long did it help for? Was it one of those short-lived affairs soon followed by guilt and recrimination? Are you finding that food is actually your best lover: always there for you, never judging you, not having any expectations of you? Is it what you take to bed with you – especially food of the illicit kind? Having food as your lover and your best friend may be tempting. After all, it’s always delicious and never let’s you down. And it’s easy to sneak off with it into your bedroom and become joined at the lips – but problem is… well… a moment on your lips and before you know it, it’s a lifetime on your hips, not to mention your tummy and everywhere else you don’t want it. And worse still – food itself may not tell you how awful and terrible you are, but you’ll probably land up doing a pretty good job of that all by yourself. So you may be wondering – what fills hungry and holey hearts? Well, the simple answer is that it’s different for each person and being that our needs are so unique and different, the only person who’ll know what does it for you – is YOU! But here are some clues: other than eating, what are the things that make you happy – the things that make your heart sing? You can also look to being of service to others – often, it’s in helping others that we most find fulfillment. What makes you laugh, have fun and take yourself less seriously? When are you most able to be in like with yourself? These are ways to fill a hungry heart!
