You may have received a crystal as a gift or have dabbled in purchasing your own. If you have little experience with crystals it is likely that you won't know what you need to do in order to care for them. Here's a quick beginner's guide for you.
Now that you have cleansed your crystal of any latent negativity that may have been residing in it, it is time to charge it with positive energy. One of the best ways to do this is to leave it in the light of the sun or the moon. It is believed that the best times for doing this are sunrise and sunset as this is when the positive energy of the sun is at its strongest. Some crystals, like quartz can focus this light in the same way as a magnify glass would so please be careful. Some crystals may also fade in sunlight, so please check before you do this. General Care / Storing The durability of crystals varies widely and so they should be treated accordingly. For example highly polished tumbled stones can be washed under water whilst fragile or friable stones need to be treated with extreme care and stored separately. Store your stones in soft material like silk or velvet; it is quite common to find pouches made out of these materials. Tumbled stones can be kept together but more fragile ones need to be stored separately. Of course many crystals are meant to be enjoyed as ornaments around the house or office. If you do make sure you dust them regularly (avoid any chemical products like furniture polish) and cleanse them from time to time. Enjoy your crystals, care for them and love them and they will care for you and love you in return. |
