Your Own Personal Ozone LayerOzone steam therapy is a relatively new treatment that has remarkable success in stimulating the immune and lymphatic system, detoxifying the body and destroying bacteria and viruses.

The benefits of ozone have been known for years. Traditionally, ozone therapy involved a blood transfusion of the patient’s own blood, infused with ozone. This was an invasive but effective procedure. Ozone steam therapy produces many of the benefits of ozone in a relaxed, pleasant and non-invasive treatment.

The patient sits upright in a steam chamber with their head outside the box, and is dosed with warm steam and ozone gas. As the ozone comes into contact with the skin, a single oxygen atom is released (oxygen exists as an O3 molecule whereas ozone is O2), which is a free radical. This free radical attacks and destroys other free radicals in the body. Healthy cells have an enzyme coating around them that protects them from the oxygen, while damaged cells and invading viruses and bacteria have no such coating.

When the body is ill, it causes a fever, which increases the blood circulation and as a result, the flow of oxygen to the tissues. In the same way, a patient in an ozone steam sauna is warmed and then oxygen is carried throughout the blood, fat and lymphatic system. Since these are the three of the places in the body where toxins are most commonly stored, this is an effective way to eliminate them from the body. And because they are eliminated through the skin, the kidneys experience no extra strain from the detoxification.

Personal experience
As a massage therapist, I have seen the benefits of ozone steam sauna therapy for my clients, and for myself as well. I was introduced to ozone by my mother who suffers from terrible rheumatoid arthritis. It was getting so bad that it seemed that she would end up in a wheelchair, when she tried a course of ozone therapy. The effects were almost immediate. She was able to reduce the amount of painkillers she used, and her mobility improved remarkably.

At the same time, I was suffering from persistent candida and she suggested I try ozone. The effects were also incredibly rapid and effective. After an initial ten-course treatment, my symptoms have vanished completely, and if they ever threaten to return, one session in “the box” returns me to perfect health.

We invested in an ozone steam unit, thinking that the benefits of this therapy could be extended my clients, complementing their massage treatments. I have continued to be astonished by its effectiveness. I can’t claim that it is a magical cure for all possible ailments, but one or two clients who have come to me have improved radically.

One woman, who suffered permanent nerve damage as a result of meningitis, was able to stop using painkillers altogether after a few visits, and a very fit man who was considerably weakened by viral infection that he couldn’t get rid of went for a run the day after his first ozone treatment. A third client, a terminal cancer patient, has said to me that it makes her good days that much better and her bad days tolerable.

Some of the purported benefits of ozone steam therapy are:
  • reducing lactic acid and relaxing muscles
  • relieving mental fatigue
  • burning 400 to 600 calories per session
  • improving circulation
  • promoting healing and the release of natural painkillers
  • maintaining a clear and healthy skin
  • detoxifying your body
  • boosting your immune system
