![]() Have you ever tried to run across damp grass with your high heels on? Your shoes sink right in, and it's difficult, to say the least. This is my metaphor for how our "manicured" self, the one we present to the world, is sometimes incongruent with the natural flow of things. With our spiky high heels on, we dig into the mud of our lives and get stuck. The result is feeling frustrated, shaky, and teetering for solid ground, not to mention the risk of real injury. Now add a giant handbag to that image, weighted full of the 'essentials' we feel are necessary to navigate the world each day. This heavy load of make-up and 'preparedness' only makes our heels sink in deeper on our journey across the lawn of our lives. Most of us as women spend a lot of time 'getting ready'. We invest daily energy constructing and supporting the illusion of our self. This identity is the face we want the world to see: correct shade of lipstick, carefully crafted smoky eyelids and Chi straight hair. It translates to: "I'm successful, happy and carefree". Does your outer appearance reflect your inner truth? Instead of preparing from the outside in, prepare from the inside out. Our beauty radiates from our inner light. The cream foundation in your make-up drawer is a pale substitute indeed for a calm, secure spiritual foundation deep in your being. It's time to exfoliate! Remove all of the layers of old make-up that no longer accurately present your story to the world. Get to the new fresh skin, the shiny part of the true you. The most powerful exfoliating tools are meditation and prayer. When used daily, it's quite effective in scrubbing away areas of your identity that no longer serve you. Is there a dream you hold dear? A destination you'd like to reach in your life-even if you're not quite sure how to get there? An experience you'd like to attract? The first step is to let go of all of the ways you think you need to be, and what you believe you need to do, to get to where you want to go. These personal standards and expectations are the 'high heels' we wear in our lives. They elevate or remove us from a true connection to the Earth. When we are connected to the Earth, we are grounded. This is where we have the most energy to magnetically attract new experiences in or lives, be it practical, like a new job, a new relationship or emotional - such as growing inner joy and peace. Once we get to the core of our persona, we can engage in a dialogue with our higher self. There is clarity in this conversation. Our Higher Self is our greatest guide. It will always offer us the insights and inspiration we need to move along life's journey in our most dynamic way. Inside this space, where we are just Being with our Higher Self, we can create a vision for ourselves that serves both us and the entire planet. Every moment can become a co-creation of this vision, through our actions, thoughts and beliefs. What we are living right now is a reflection of this universal law, so choose wisely. Once you upgrade these areas in your mind, you create a whole new set of experiences in the present moment. Let go of that giant handbag! It's only making you sink deeper into a life full of meaningless circumstances-which you have the power to shift. After all, who told us to carry so much baggage around? The role of mother, wife, and caregiver are important and valuable, yet none of these need to become an obstacle to other emerging aspects of ourselves. When we are lighter, we have more space for the entire spectrum of our identities. Let your true spiritual nature girl shine from the rainbow of all that she is capable of being. She radiates from the inside out, and the world embraces her unique expression. Here's the question Why does it not occur to many of us to kick off our heels and really connect to the Earth? Go barefoot girls! Get back to the essence of who you truly are.
