From Saturday, 18 October 2008 -  08:00
To Sunday, 19 October 2008 - 17:00
Every day
Trial Flower Garden Delight your senses amidst wave after wave of colourful flowering annuals and perennials (both indigenous and exotic) at the Kirchhoffs/BallStraathof trial gardens in Honeydew on Saturday October 18 and Sunday October 19.

After a break of two years, Kirchhoffs opens its trial flower and vegetable gardens to the public from 10 am to 5 pm each day during the weekend. The 2, 5 ha trial gardens with some 360 different flowering annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables will inspire every generation of gardener.

The colourful extravaganza consists of massed bedding plants, perennials, container gardens, hanging baskets, plants for hot spots, and a large vegetable and herb garden. As with previous open days, visitors will be asked to vote for their favourite varieties.

The very approachable radio personality Lynton Johnson will be in attendance on Sunday afternoon to answer gardening questions and at 5 pm will auction off the containers and hanging baskets.

Families are invited to bring their picnic baskets and there will also be refreshments for sale and a jumping castle for the children. Entrance is R10 per person (children under 12 free) and the money will go to a local charity.

The Kirchhoffs/BallStraathof gardens are in Printech Street, just off Beyers Naudé drive via Juice Street, in Honeydew. Follow the signs. For more information contact 011 7942316 and ask for Chantel.
